Get to Know to Waynesville Before Your Relocation
The crush of development in Warren County has done little to change
the idyllic surroundings which attracted Quaker settlers
in 1797 to the area now known as Waynesville -- situated
on a hill overlooking the Little Miami River Valley.
Waynesville is a charming
community at the intersection of US 42 and State Route 73,
less than twenty miles south of Dayton and roughly thirty-five
miles north of Cincinnati.
Nancy has put together some highlights to familiarize you with what
Waynesville has to offer so you can start looking forward to your relocation.
Waynesville Ohio - A Lifestyle Preserved
Charming Historic Downtown. The "Old
Main Street" historic district -- five blocks of charming and
historic buildings, brick sidewalks, copper street lamps,
flower boxes and benches for resting and people-watching -- will take
you back to the days when people "went to town"
to shop, visit and just enjoy the day.
Thanks in part to the efforts of the local Historic Preservation
Board, growth is balanced and the village's rich historic charm is
preserved. Look at pictures of charming historic buildings in
this official Waynesville
Historic Preservation District Design Standards (.pdf) .
Antiques Capital of the Midwest. With over
70 antique shops and art galleries, an ever-changing
inventory will thrill and delight you as you find antiques
and collectables of every kind in Waynesville.
Waynesville Schools. The local school district, Wayne
Local Schools,
was recently rated "excellent" by
the Ohio Department of Education, and students continue to
perform well, in and out of the classroom. High school athletes
are regular participants in regional and state tournaments.
Recreation. Caesar
Creek State Park is only 5 minutes from Waynesville on St.
Rt. 73. It
is a beautiful man-made lake with no development on the shoreline,
so you really feel like you are away from it all as you enjoy
boating, fishing, hunting, swimming or hiking.
Population. In 2005, the population of Waynesville
was estimated at 2,980. A
small town by anyone's standards, its small size is
one of its many attractive features -- allowing it to offer
residents the benefits that come with small town living.
Census Data.
Median resident age: 36.4 years
Median household income: $50,202 (year 2000)
Median house value: $127,600 (year 2000)

Easy Commute. Even though Waynesville is in
the country, it has excellent access to major highways to
get you anywhere you want to go -- fast, with no traffic
jams.
